Russell is a West Coast Native Artist of the Bear and Wolf Clan. He is from the Squamish Nation Village of Uslahan located in North Vancouver, BC.
He began carving on wood at the age of 12, through the inspiration and guidance of his elders. Through the years, Russell has developed his own unique West Coast style, incorporating images of animals and various spirits into his works. Russell’s various woodcarvings include masks, totem poles, plaques, sculptures, talking sticks, bowls and rattles. It is Russell’s intention to continue to learn this valuable part of his cultural heritage and to be able to pass his teachings on to future generations.
